peeso reamers dental uses and diameters

Peeso reamers are group of dental burs (Drills) that are used on low speed handpiece, and also peeso reamers are used to drill in the root canal space.

Peeso reamers are made of stainless steel that have varying diameters and sizes depending of size of root canal being prepared for placing post.

Uses of Peeso reamers

  • Enlarge the coronal portion of root canal space
  • Prepare the canal entrance
  • Peeso reamers can be used during root canal retreatments
  • Remove gutta-percha for preparation of post space drilling
  • Have notches for easy identification of peeso reamer size
  • Used by any right-angled hand piece
  • They are available in standard lengths as (32 mm) and short lengths as (28 mm)
  • Peeso-reamers have large working area compared to the gates glidden drills.

Motion of peeso reamers

We use picking motion (up and down) during applying peeso reamers on the root canal space by low speed handpiece which have speed of (750-1000 RPM) .

Still the use of peeso reamers are dangerous as the misuse of such drills can lead to perforation or strip perforation in the canal space.
